The purpose of the Teaching for Learning framework is to:

  • Provide clear expectations for teachers
  • Align professional development and support at the school-level, area-level, and central office.

The Framework was developed by engaging critical stakeholders:

  • Teachers
  • Principals & Assistant Principals
  • Coaches
  • Chief Area Officers
  • District staff
  • Key partners

Focus for 2010-11 School Year— Develop, test, and improve:

  • The quality of the Framework and rubric
  • A foundational set of professional development supports aligned to the Framework

Teaching for Learning Rubric

The Teaching for Learning Rubric is the result of a collaborative effort which integrates feedback from 41 focus groups with 200 teachers, assistant principals, principals, area coaches, district staff members, and key partners. The rubric can be used as a reflective tool alone or in combination with other educational tools to assist you in reflecting on teaching.

The Teaching for Learning Rubric is in draft form and will continue to evolve as we work together to improve student achievement. We welcome your feedback!
